Policy Affiliated Faculty Reappointment and Non-Renewal

The terms of appointment of full-time faculty members outside the tenure stream may be for one to five years, are renewable, and subject to review.  This policy also applies to affiliated faculty members.

Notification requirements for full-time, non-tenure stream faculty apply to affiliated faculty.  A decision not to renew an affiliated faculty member must use the following notification schedule.  An affiliated faculty member who has completed less than five full years of continuous service shall be notified in writing no later than three and a half months prior to the end of the appointment.  An affiliated faculty member who has completed at least five full years of continuous service shall be notified in writing no later than five and a half months prior to the end of the appointment.  A copy of the letter of non-renewal must be forwarded to the Faculty Affairs Office.

All expired and terminated affiliated faculty appointments must have a termination date.  Termination of cause, including the acceptance of a faculty appointment at another medical school, remains available.
